Discover below a short video presentation of the option:
Daan Tech has been designing a small autonomous dishwasher called Bob. Due to the COVID19 crisis, Daan Tech figured out a new option for its product: a UV-C sterilization option.
This new feature allows Bob to sanitize efficiently and remove bacteria and viruses in a few minutes using ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI). It can sanitize many daily objects such as disposable masks, wallets, keys, or dishes.
Delivery is expected in October 2020.

DISCOVER A SMALL AUTONOMOUS DISHWASHER FEATURING UVGI
While most of the world has been locked down, Daan Tech used that time to find a convenient solution on how to sanitize items while continuing building its manufacturing capacity for its small innovative dishwasher. UVGI is an easy and safe way to sanitize items. Thus, it will be an option offered for an extra £49, now available at a discounted price of only £39. With this option, in addition to cleaning the dishes, Bob autonomous dishwasher sanitize any objects measuring less than (27 x 27 x 34cm or 10.6in x 10.6in x 13.8in).
ADDRESSING THE WASTE ISSUE
While Britain is easing its lockdown, people are using millions of disposable masks every day. If each Briton uses four disposable masks a day (to comply with the recommendation of changing them every 3 hours), that will result in more than 200 million of masks per day to manufacture, deliver, and then recollect and dispose. Since they are made of several layers, they are not recyclable and are thus burnt or end in landfill. Finally, supply issues add up to environmental ones.
MAKING SANITIZING EASY
As lockdown eases, fighting the coronavirus at home or at the office requires to regularly sanitize any objects that can carry the virus, such as smartphones, wallets, and keys. Cleaning them with chemicals is not easy and polluting, while UVGI offers a contactless solution, killing 99.9% of viruses in a convenient way.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Ultraviolet germinal irradiation or UVGI has been used for years to sanitize drink water or sterilize tools in hospitals. More recently, it has been used in US hospitals to cope with masks shortage. The principle is simple: sending high energy photons whose wavelength is between 200nm and 280nm (with an efficiency peak at 270nm) on viruses. Photons, or light particles, break the RNA of viruses, and make them harmless to humans. However, due to their high energy, UV-C are harmful to human cells and can causes skin and eyes burns. That is why Daan Tech designed a safe way to use them within Bob autonomous dishwasher.
THE SAFEST WAY TO USE A HIGHLY EFFICIENT TECHNOLOGY
According to several studies published on the analysis of SARS-COV-1, an irradiation dose ranging from 2mJ to 5mJ per square centimetre is enough to eliminate SARS-COV-1. For prudence sake, we use a 20 times higher irradiation dose of 100mJ per square centimetre. The elimination of viruses follows a logarithmic decrease since inactivation by UVGI follows a decreasing exponential law.
To ensure safety while using UVGI option, Bob autonomous dishwasher has a built-in sensor that instantly turn off UV-C lamps to avoid user exposure to radiation, and Bob’s porthole is made of filtering matter that only lets visible light getting through. Finally, Bob autonomous dishwasher remains a fully fledged dishwasher with all its features, nice and intuitive interface, making easy to switch between each mode.

TWO WAYS OF USING UVGI
Bob built-in UVGI option makes possible using a dry mode (without using water) to sanitize objects such as smartphones, masks or wallets, but it also works on wet modes, such as Bob’s 20 minutes express mode to clean deeply cups or dishes at the office.
WHEN WILL THIS OPTION BE AVAILABLE?
Bob with built-in UVGI can be ordered at anytime at £348 only directly on our website. For pre-orders that will be delivered in October 2020, a special £10 discount is provided.
