Daan Positive Cycle

The Daan Positive Cycle is our promise to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible. It is based around 5 key elements:

  Saving Water

According to the 2020 United Nations World Water Report*, “climate change is altering the availability of water.” In addition, global water consumption has increased six-fold in the last 100 years. Clean water is a valuable resource even in developed countries amongst droughts and increasing demand.

To counteract the water shortage, we designed Bob the mini dishwasher to be particularly water-efficient. With its fastest program, it uses only an incredible 1.9L (0.5 gal) of water – that’s almost three times less than his competitors – and even with his highest water-consuming program (Intensive), he’s only at 3.8L (1.0 gal) of water consumption. Awesome!

Did you know that in contrast to this, when you wash by hand you use about 15L (4 gal) of water for the same amount of dishes? Bob uses a fifth of the water and takes only 20 minutes, so you can spend your time on other matters while also being economical with your water consumption.

Fighting against single use plastic

Cassette réutilisable et consigné

Available soon in your region

With the Bob Cassette, we wanted to create a detergent system for dishwashers that is not only convenient to use but also avoids the use of disposable plastic.

All Bob Cassette can be recycled in the most effective manner, for its original purpose. As soon as Bob has finished the 30 portions of detergent in the cassette, Bob’s owner can send the cassette back to the Daan Factory directly using the included shipping label, and we’ll refill it with detergent. It is then returned to the market and can be used again by another Bob.

This recycling can be repeated hundreds of times without us having to process new plastic, and is convenient for the user. Conventional dishwashing detergent from the supermarket is usually sold in disposable plastic bottles or plastic-wrapped pods, increasing household waste. We at Daan Tech have made a conscious decision to take the route that is better for our planet, despite being more costly.

Help us declare war on single-use plastic.

  Manufacturing with recycled plastics

Electrical appliances will be electrical appliances –  difficult and costly to make from recycled materials. Nevertheless, in Bob as many parts as possible are made from recycled material. We have managed to make it out of about 50% recycled material and will continue striving to increase this.

With the unavoidable presence of plastic in our world, we believe it’s important to use as much recycled and recyclable plastic as possible. This is so that especially in the context of industrial production we can minimize negative environmental impact. In addition, we have worked hard to make Bob the mini dishwasher particularly durable, intentionally opposing an artificially shortened lifespan seen in other appliances.

Bob’s spare parts are all available for at least 10 years after purchase, and due to the high quality of its material and the capacity for continuous, remote software updates Bob is a faithful companion for years.

Creating inclusive jobs in Europe

Creating Inclusive Job

The last dishwasher factory in France ceased production in 2016. Daan Tech decided to develop and manufacture Bob in France to revive this sector in a sustainable way and is currently the only dishwasher manufacturer located in France. Within the last 12 months, Daan Tech has managed to create 40 new jobs internally while providing its employees with security and stability despite the global upheaval from the pandemic. Through its collaboration with over 15 European suppliers, many indirect jobs have also been safeguarded.

Daan Tech contributes to economic development not only internally in France but throughout Europe. Support for our mission is increasing, enabling steady growth and the creation of more jobs with it. We welcome everyone without reservation:     We want the most diverse individuals, skill sets, and backgrounds to be constantly inspiring each other, and through this achieve our common goal of facing the challenges of the 21st century with innovative and sustainable products.

   Using sustainable packaging solutions

The Daan Positive Cycle values are also reflected in our choice of packaging.

As with the production of Bob and the Bob Cassette, we use recycled and recyclable packaging for our products. Bob and all other products on the Daan Tech website are packaged using recycled cardboard. We also do our printing using natural inks.

We do our best to eliminate unnecessary plastic in all of our packaging solutions. We are committed to constantly improving and ensuring both the most sustainable and stable transport solutions possible for our beloved mini dishwasher.

Fighting against single use plastic

Cassette réutilisable et consigné

With the Bob Cassette, we want to introduce a system for dishwashers that is not only particularly convenient to use, but also avoids the use of disposable plastic. All Bob Cassette can be reused, i.e. as soon as Bob has used the detergent in perfect portions for 30 rinses per cassette, Bob’s owner sends the cassette back to the Daan Factory and we refill it with detergent there. It is then returned to the market and can be used again by Bob the mini dishwashers.

This process can be repeated hundreds of times without us having to process new plastic. Conventional dishwashing detergent from the supermarket is usually sold in disposable plastic bottles and therefore has a negative impact on the environment. We from Daan Tech have made a conscious decision to take the more costly route, but one that is better for our planet.

   Using sustainable packaging solutions

Packaging Sustainable

Our Daan Tech values within the Daan Positive Cycle are also reflected in our choice of packaging.

Thus, as with the production of Bob and the Bob Cassette, we use recycled and recyclable packaging for our products. Bob and all the options you can order on the Daan Tech website are packaged in recycled cardboard. This is also labeled with natural ink. We try to eliminate unnecessary plastic in all of our packaging solutions. Again, we promise to constantly improve and ensure the most sustainable, but also most stable transport solution for our ever beloved mini dishwasher.

The 5 current elements and subsequent components of the Daan Positive Cycle are of course still expandable. However, they represent our key efforts and especially our promise of keeping our environmental footprint as small as possible.
